Kamala Harris Announces Debt-Forgiveness Program for Gamers Who Finish Mother 4

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Senator Kamala Harris announced a new policy plan that erases all student debt for gamers who are able to complete a 100% playthrough of Mother 4, the highly anticipated sequel to 2006’s Mother 3.

“I am incredibly committed to making sure lower income students get their shot at the American dream,” Harris said in a recent campaign rally. “Many of my detractors claim I just propose progressive policies with no intention of actually following through on them. Well, read my lips: anyone who completes a playthrough of Mother 4, if it ever comes out, will have all their student debt erased!”

“Of course, I should mention that if the game follows in the footsteps of Mother 3, coming out in Japan but never with an English-language version,” Harris continued, “that obviously doesn’t count.”

Other candidates for president were quick to attack Harris’ debt-forgiveness proposal.

“Gamers are too smart. You can’t just trick them into voting for you,” explained gamer candidate for president Ace Watkins. “Gamers have sharpened their minds — and their swords — their entire lives by training in the virtual realm. If you give them a fetch quest where the quest item doesn’t exist, they’re going to get mad. Or they’re going to find a way to glitch through a wall and get it anyway. Never underestimate gamers.”

At press time, there were rumors that Harris also plans to announce her Medicare-for-All plan, which would roll out public health benefits to citizens in possession of a mint condition Black Lotus card from Magic: the Gathering.

Drug Dealer’s Earlier Stuff Way Better

BOISE, Idaho — Self-proclaimed “Ted Head” and loyal trap house patron Dustin Ward spent last Monday afternoon reminiscing about the days when he actually enjoyed dealer Ted “The Med” Barnes’ product, several Ada County cellmates confirmed.

“I’ve been a fan of that dude’s drugs since the 8th grade,” a barely buzzed Ward explained. “He’s my best friend’s older brother. I remember like it was yesterday: he barged into my buddy’s room, caught us snorting Pixie Stix, told us ‘that shit was gay’ and that he’d ‘show us some real shit.’ He came back with a CD binder, pulled a dub from the sleeve, and cut me my first line of K. I’ve been bumpin’ Ted’s stuff ever since.”

Ward lamented that a growing clientele forced the once small-time dealer to shift focus to prescription pills and designer drugs to accommodate the needs of his buyers, ultimately leading to a lower quality and selection of narcotics.

“Ted’s kind of a sell out — now, he’s just another cookie cutter pharmacist peddling commercial bullshit,” said Ward. “Back in the day, you left a sesh in Ted’s basement with a nosebleed and brain damage. Now? You leave with a kandi bracelet and some high schooler’s molly sweat soaked into your shirt. I’m there for nugs — not hugs, you pussies.”

Barnes, recognizing his repertoire of illicit substances has changed over the years, vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

“I’ve been in this game for a long time, and it’d be unfair to expect me to stick to the same ol’ shit. I’m a different person from who I was 20 years ago,” Barnes said. “Naturally, my product evolves with me… and if you want to get real, the problem is Dustin’s crazy-high tolerance. I used to tell everyone at parties, you could get fucked up off that dude’s piss.”

“Some of these guys just really need to grow up,” he added. “If you’re not getting into newer stuff, and just wanna do the same three drugs you were doing in high school, that’s fine… but don’t complain about how the new shit isn’t as good, just because you don’t understand it.”

Ward, currently in police custody for holding 800 mL of a Schedule 1 controlled substance in his bladder, could not be reached for further comment.

Oh, You’re a Big Vampire Weekend Fan? Name Three Artisanal Cigarette Craftsmen Who Summer on Boulevard DU Montparnasse

Oh, so you love Vampire Weekend, yeah? You’re a big fan? Well, we’ll see about that.

Real fans can name at least THREE artisanal cigarette craftsmen who spend their summers gallivanting upon the Boulevard du Montparnasse. Can you do that, poser?

You’ve been listening to “Father of the Bride” nonstop for the last few months? Woop-di-fuckin-doo.

Everyone knows real fans take a break to listen to broken, untranslated audiobook adaptations of Alain-Rene Lesage’s 1709 comedy “Turcaret” and his picaresque novel “Gil Blas.” In between listens they polish their award-winning Lion’s Mane mushrooms before the big show next month (duh). Why don’t you change out of that t-shirt and into a woolen 9-piece suit like the rest of us. Maybe that’ll help you wake the fuck up, freshman.

In line for a beer at the concert? You make me sick. REAL Vampirinous Faces (that’s what the fanbase is called) bring in their own egg and dill champagne, made from the finest quail eggs this side of the Guadalquivir. Enjoy your bread juice, I’ll be sipping herbed bubbles and chomping on braised chinchilla bone… like a real Day One.

“A-Punk” is your favorite Vampire Weekend song? I would pull the plug on you right now if I could.

Everyone knows that Vampire Weekend’s best song is Italian opera singer Clorinda Corradi’s 1823 performance of “La Cenerentola” at the Recanati Theatre in the Macerata province, which was never recorded and has not been heard by anyone but those in attendance of the performance almost 200 years ago.

You’ve been practicing the riff from “Harmony Hall?” I’ve been practicing my eulogy for your funeral.

If you want to honor their guitar work, do what real fans do: Buy an old, haunted brass viola for a retail price of 96 human lips. Tell it all of your secrets, offer fresh Brazilian cherry trees as a gift, then play a low humming C note until the Beyond Meat stock rises 15 points. It’s pretty textbook stuff.

Wow, Ezra Koenig followed you back on Instagram? Really? THAT is what you’re bringing to the table in the wake of my monstrous ringing of the proverbial bell? Well, that’s actually really cool.

Can… can you tag me in something so maybe he follows me too?

Bernie Sanders Wears Opening Speaker’s Shirt On Stage

BUTTE, Mon. — Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders wore a T-shirt at his rally yesterday featuring local Councilman Albert Beniman, who’d opened the rally with a blistering 20-minute set of his own, stoked witnesses confirmed.

“Let’s hear it for Councilman Beniman, folks,” Sanders said when taking the stage, grinning brightly in the black shirt. “He came out here at my request and did a great job kicking this rally off — one of the hardest working fellas out there. Give it up for him, everyone!”

The crowd responded with wild cheers, exalting in the Vermont senator’s humility.

“It’s just so cool seeing a national act shout out the little guy,” said Butte resident Julie Wilf. “Like, Councilman Beniman is a huge deal here, but no one would know who he is in Washington… so it’s wild to see Bernie wearing one of his shirts.”

Political commentators were quick to point out the impact an endorsement like this could have on a local, progressive politician.

“You have these kids who idolize Bernie — have his posters and merchandise and the whole nine yards — seeing him in this Beniman shirt and thinking, ‘Wow, he supports this local politician, and maybe I should, too,’” said strategist Wendy Hull. “I’ve heard we might need to move next week’s town hall meeting to the high school auditorium because so many people want to come out and support Councilman Beniman now. That’s just fantastic.”

Beniman himself, standing in the back during Sanders’ speech, seemed excited for the possibilities the endorsement could bring him.

“Bernie’s so kind to do that. I think this could open so many doors for me,” Beniman said. “I love serving Silver Bow County and making a difference on the local scale… but I have other aspirations, too. I’ve done plenty of tours around Montana already; I want to get on a bus and make progressive speeches in places like Boston and New York — maybe even run for state office and release a campaign commercial with cool music.”

Sanders closed his speech by encouraging the audience to “…say hello to Beniman, and maybe pick up a sticker and listen to a few of his talking points,” before breaking down the stage and PA and loading it into the tour van.

Search Party Seeks Lil Nas X After No New “Old Town Road” Remixes in Over 48 Hours

ATLANTA – Worried family, friends, and fans formed a search party to find viral rapper Lil Nas X who was reported missing after going 48 hours without releasing a new “Old Town Road” remix, officials confirmed.

“This just isn’t like my baby,” sobbed a heartbroken Big Mom X, Lil Nas X’s mother. “He knows the rules that he needs to check in with me regularly. Lately I have been able to keep track of where he is and who he is associating with by checking the featured artist in the latest remix of ‘Old Town Road.’ It’s just easier for him than chatting on the phone.”

“Now I know the pain that Gucci Mane’s mother feels ever since he stopped releasing dozens of mixtapes per year,” she added before rejoining the search party.

Music industry experts weighed in on the indirect consequences of Lil Nas X’s disappearance.

“We desperately need to find him. Our daily users are in a free fall. He single-handedly accounted for 43.3% of all streams on our platform last month. If someone doesn’t upload another ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ soon we might be completely fucked,” explained YouTube rep Maxwell Snyder. “His ability to take the same piece of music and reuse it repeatedly is unparalleled, possibly only ever matched by any doom metal band ever.”

Vexed fans speculated about his whereabouts.

“I knew something was wrong two days ago when Lil Nas X went a few hours without tweeting,” explained superfan Gavin Tulci, 13. “No ‘horses in bacc’ quips, no Spongebob memes with him photoshopped in, no retweets. He is so incredibly present online that I figured he just doesn’t sleep. But maybe he finally made good on his word, took his horse, and rode ‘til he couldn’t no more.”

As of press time, a confidential source from Eau Claire, Wisconsin suggested that Lil Nas X had absconded to a cabin in the nearby woods to record an album of sad acoustic remixes of his songs, tentatively titled “For Meanie, Panini Ago”.

You Cannot Have a Sex Scandal If You Have Never Had Sex

My fellow Americans: First, let me thank you for the overwhelming support I have received just a month into my presidential campaign. At this rate, we will have our first Gamer president next year, and I could not be more excited to embark on this open-world adventure with you all.

It is time to expand our horizons though, and truly turn the corner into the next step of 100 percenting this playthrough. We must appeal to those outside of our base of Gamers, and reach out to get the votes of the moms and pops, the small business owners, the Golden Tee players. My fear is that we cannot carry the electoral college on the backs of gamers alone.

Now, those outside of the gaming world are quick to criticize me, saying that a Gamer shouldn’t be President, and that “vidja games are for wussies,” and the like. If I can’t appeal to them with my impressive speed runs or snarky streams, let me appeal to them by describing why a Gamer would be more fit to serve than any previous commander-in-chief.

I’m not sure how many presidents there have been, but one thing I do know is that about half of them have been rocked by a sexual scandal. Trump, Clinton, Kennedy, and most famously, William Henry Harrison, whose lightning flash of a presidency was merely a 31 day whirlwind term of sucking and fucking that sent him into a disease ridden early grave. A beautiful speedrun.

These scandals and stories do nothing for our country but diminish our respect on a global scale. I ask you this, voters: What is the surest way to ensure that the president has no sex scandal? Well, that’s simple — elect a man who has never had sex.

While other presidents spent their pre-political years cheating on their wives, I was courting Emily, the blue haired bartender from Stardew Valley. We never fucked once and somehow still had a baby. When the others were paying off porn stars to keep their misdeeds confidential, I was paying off referees in Mutant League Football to look the other way on my penalties. When all my adolescent friends were masturbating, I was playing Pokémon on my Game Boy and asking them what the heck they were doing.

Video games have taught me a lot, but perhaps the most important thing is that no earthly pleasure can compare to that of a well timed headshot or perfectly executed raid. I have no skeletons in my closet, because I’ve been streaming League of Legends from my closet every weeknight for the last three years.

I solemnly swear to you, the voting public, that I have never fucked anyone, including your mom. I’ll see you at the polls!

Kombucha Tasked with Undoing 10 Years of Hard Drug Use

EUGENE, Ore. – A local fuck-up is hopeful this morning that the nutrients from his half-consumed Synergy Gingerberry kombucha will be more than enough to reverse the effects of his near decade-long bender.

“I’ve really been off the wagon for eight, closer to nine years now,” said career bartender John Hassett. “Until last month, I’d get to work and immediately pour myself a shot and a beer. But due to some recent health scares, I’m only drinking kombucha-infused cocktails until further notice. I’m finally making my health a real priority.”

Hassett has tried nearly everything short of abstaining from drugs and alcohol to get himself back on track. So far, though, he’s found that drinking kombucha almost nonstop was the easiest change to implement.

“This is the first time I’ve practiced self-care in a while, and it’s long overdue,” said Hassett, lighting a Camel Wide cigarette. “Nowadays, I try to stay away from any beverage that doesn’t come with a disclaimer warning the public that non-pasteurized drinks are potentially unsafe for children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. If it’s not putting babies or old people at risk, I won’t touch it.”

“I know it’s only been 72 hours, but I really feel my body turning around. It’s gotta be the probiotics, which basically just fixes all your shit up, I heard,” he added.

Although beverages made from fermented tea and live cultures have been around for millennia, they’ve experienced a spike in popularity since young people realized kombucha contains .03 percent alcohol.

“There’s a misconception among millennials that if something tastes bad and costs over $7, it must be good for you — as evidenced by the resurgence of beet salad and lemongrass shots,” said nutritionist Olga Jensen. “Grocery stores could probably sell bags of dirt to people as appetite suppressants if they got the packaging right… or at least nail a solid font.”

At the time of publication, Hassett was recovering in the ICU after contracting a bacterial infection from his homemade scoby.

The Next Flight of the Conchords? People Keep Laughing at This Band

When I first saw The Hard Cores, I thought they were just bad. I mean, spectacularly bad. They had no bass player, the drummer kept stopping in the middle of songs to scratch her junk, and they played a song called “M’Lady.”

But the laughs these guys got were incredible. You’ve never seen an audience fall apart in glee like this crowd did when the singer walked across the stage with a floppy, wet piece of toilet paper trailing from the bottom of his shoe. I quickly realized The Hard Cores could be the next great musical-comedy act, like a punk rock Lonely Island, or even a punk rock NOFX. So I sat down with frontman James Doran, drummer Brenda Marsh, and guitarist Keith Ho to talk about their hilarious journey.

Hard Times: Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. So you guys seem to heighten a lot of the tropes of terrible bands. Missing a bass player, being unprepared, ridiculous outfits, etc. What was the inspiration for that? Were any of you in real bands growing up?

Doran: We… are a real band.

Hard Times: I guess that’s true. Comedy music is still music. Some of those Flight of the Conchords songs are real earworms! I guess what I mean is that the difference between you and them is talent. Those guys know what they’re doing musically, whereas your band’s whole schtick is about leaning into ineptitude. What was the catalyst behind that?

Marsh: Well, to be honest, a lot of the words you just said went right over my head, but like any band, we take practice pretty serious. But we don’t want to sound too neat, either, you know? That’s why we don’t have a bass player.

Hard Times: So what first inspired you to go combine music and comedy? Did one come first?

Doran: I don’t follow. We’ve always been dedicated to our music.

Hard Times: Haha, good one! Man you guys really commit to character.

Doran: Character?

Hard Times: One of your most famous bits was the one where you pretended to forget your own songs and just did Raffi covers for the rest of the night. How come you’ve only done it once? It was such a hit!

Ho: That was actually a really difficult night for us. Playing “Baby Beluga” helped us feel comforted. Why is that so funny to you?

Hard Times: You have to stop, I’m gonna pee myself!

Doran: Stop What?

Hard Times: Uhm… hmm. Hey I know what would be fun! I’m just gonna throw out some random words and you tell me if you identify that word with what you guys do. Ok first word, music.

Doran: Absolutely.

Hard Times: Comedy.

(silence)

Hard Times: Wow. Ok yeah I think I have everything I need here, thank you for your time!

Marsh: So when does this come out? We could share it on our facebook page.

Doran: We only have 5 right now but they are all super hot girls.

Hard Times: Sorry I’m late for uh, something else.

Ok, so it turns out the Hard Cores are not a comedy rock band. Either that, or they are an extremely committed comedy rock band, and throwing a brick through my window with a note tied to it reading “print our interview or else”  is a high concept bit.

Chris Conley Replaces Every Band Member for Saves the Day Encore

PHILADELPHIA — Saves the Day fans were treated to an unforgettable encore performance at This Is Hardcore Fest last night, which featured a totally new lineup assembled by frontman Chris Conley minutes after the band’s previous lineup completed their set.

“I realized I wasn’t the same artist from back when we started playing this show, and I wanted the encore to reflect my evolution over those forty-five minutes,” said Conley as he updated the Saves the Day Wikipedia page. “After deep meditation and reading the works of Carl Jung backstage, I decided that the band just wasn’t ready to write the next chapter with me on the three or four crowd-pleasers we usually save for the end.”

Many fans in attendance confirmed they were impressed, though not entirely surprised, by the sudden change-up.

“I’ve seen Saves the Day a dozen times and they are never the same band, literally,” said long-time fan Erin Mew. “But yeah, this was some David Copperfield-level shit. I mean, like if David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear and replaced it with three dudes from the Philly hardcore scene.”

The move reportedly came as a shock to members of the band who were abruptly cycled out of the lineup.

“I was blindsided. Granted, I’ve technically only been in the band since last week when I saw an ad on Craigslist, but nothing could have prepared me for this total about-face,” lamented former Saves the Day touring guitarist Lyle Matsuda. “I’m okay with being kicked out of the band, but Chris gave me a ride out here from California and he isn’t returning any of my texts. I’m not exactly sure how I am going to get home.”

According to the musicians who joined Conley onstage for the encore, it was the experience of a lifetime.

“My friend messaged me that day about having an extra ticket for the festival — who knew that just a few hours later I’d be playing in one of my favorite bands!” said new former Saves the Day bassist Rob Bramlett, who played nearly two songs before Conley had him replaced during the outro of “Firefly.”

Sources confirm that Chris Conley was so encouraged by the response from fans that he has already lined up several replacements for his upcoming solo acoustic tour.
