Opinion: Our Band Is Sick Of Passive-Aggressive Drama, Unlike SOME Bands In This Scene

All right, listen up. We got a pretty big problem, what with all of this passive-aggressive drama going down… and I, for one, am sick and tired of it, unlike some bands in this scene.

These anonymous “call out” posts? They’re a disgrace. I’m not gonna name any names — I want to stay out of this as best I can. Some bands out there just wanna shit on other bands without actually confronting the problem head-on… and I think you all know who I’m talking about.

I don’t want to call anyone out specifically, but if you are the type of person who isn’t calling people out specifically in your posts, you are part of the problem. And you know it. I can think of at least one band who does this all the time — they just did it at Steve’s party last week. Seriously. Grow the fuck up.

We have to be more mature. That especially goes for bands making overly agreeable positive statements just to get likes, or playing the victim card just to get attention all the time. Hell, last week I was at a show and some musician — who will remain nameless; I strive to be better than that — walked right up and spit on me because I’m 1/74th Native American. It’s not important how he knew that about me, or how the math works on my genealogy. What’s important is that discrimination has no place here.

And, while we’re on the subject of scene etiquette, I’d also like to say there’s no room for plagiarism or stealing ideas. I saw a band last night, who shall remain nameless (I’ll just say it rhymes with “Boo Bittle Boo Bate”), and they straight up ripped us off, right in front of us! We covered Taking Back Sunday first, assholes. “Who Are You Anyway?” is OUR tribute to them.

Let’s all work together to get drama out of our scene. I can tell you, I know exactly with which bands we should start — message me directly and I’ll tell you who. Like and share if you agree.
