NYU To Offer ‘Celebrity With a Podcast’ Major

NEW YORK — New York University recently started offering a major known as “Celebrity With a Podcast” after a survey found it to be one of the more inflation-proof careers, confirmed sources.

“I was between this and Econ with a concentration in Family Business, but what ultimately made the decision was the ability to read a book and pretend I’m an authority in a subject because I was in a movie,” said freshman Allie Romano. “The challenging part is finals. It’s an hour of live ad reads. I’m actually like, really stressed about how many promo codes we have to memorize. But I guess if Dax Shepard can do it, anyone can.”

Faculty and staff described the skills CWP majors would develop through a challenging curriculum.

“The major teaches students not to take any controversial stance that would damage their castability while maintaining an every-man facade that is mundane enough to be relatable.  Think what’s barely interesting enough for a parent to have on as background noise while doing laundry, while also not alienating the CCP or Israeli audiences. That sweet spot is where our curriculum lies,” said Professor Pax Feige. “We aim to foster a real sense of confidence in students — people who can, with a straight face, maintain that an early call time counts as having a hard job.”

University administration touted the benefits the new major had to offer to the school as a whole.

“We already had a bunch of celebrities come out of Tisch, so we thought, why not just expedite the celebrity-to-podcast pipeline? Kids want immediate gratification these days,” noted Dean of Online Entertainment Fred Kaplan. “The students who choose this major do provide a certain boost to the rest of the school. We literally would not have a Classics department without them. Also, holding class in the Equinox Lobby is a real perk for most students.”

At press time, the university asked former NYU professor James Franco to start a podcast in hopes that he would come back to teach.
