Grindcore is a subgenre of metal and hardcore punk that originated in the 80s, with short, abrasive songs that are often political in nature. It still has a huge following today, and if you’ll indulge us, we’d like to share five tunes with you. We promise they’re all really good and you’ll be stoked that you checked them out. Is that cool? - Terrorizer – “Storm of Stress”
Ahhh, Terrorizer. This tune comes from the landmark “World Downfall” album and features pre-Morbid Angel David Vincent and Pete Sandoval on the bass guitar and drums, respectively. Aren’t you glad you gave it a listen? Honestly, what else were you going to do? Sit on the couch and scroll slack-jawed through your Instagram feed? Jesus Christ, you need to find a hobby or something.
- P.L.F. – “Renegade Incompetence”
Houston’s own Pulverizing Lethal Force write some fantastic grindcore, and this song is only about a minute long. Why did we have to talk you into this in the first place? We’ve already established that you don’t have anything else more important on your plate. Do you think you’re too good for grindcore or something? Is that it?
- Nasum – “Time to Act!”
Because you’re not, you know. You’re not better than grindcore, and we kind of resent you for thinking that. Here’s a Nasum song, if you’d so deign to take a minute and a half out of your day to grace it with your attention. We’d all be sooooo appreciative if you did. Just kidding. Go ahead and ignore this suggestion if you want, you piece of shit. It wouldn’t bother us at all.
- Brutal Truth – “Walking Corpse”
Brutal Truth is awesome, and has Dan Lilker, who played on the first Anthrax album, on bass. You, on the other hand, just sit around and complain about having to listen to a few minutes’ worth of grindcore. You make us feel like we’re imposing merely by suggesting them. God forbid you check out something new. Do you even have a job? How are you paying the rent every month? You know what? We don’t even want to know, but hopefully this article motivates you to reevaluate the choices you’ve made in life.
- Napalm Death – “Uncertainty Blurs the Vision”
Did you really think we’d get to this list without including a Napalm Death song? We even found a short one for you, so here it is. 40 seconds in length. Were you able to pencil it into your full schedule of eating, shitting and masturbating? We sure hope so. God, you make us sick.
