BOSTON — Ed Sheeran finally broke his silence to address the controversy surrounding his embattled 2026 tour following his supporting acts’ dismissal for expressing anti-genocide views about the conflict in Gaza, sources confirmed.
“The opening acts, backing bands, merch booths, tour bus drivers, backup bus drivers, tousled hair combers, and yes, even Macklemore, have all made their voices heard loud. They stand in solidarity with the victims of genocide in Gaza, and they’re willing to give up their spots on the tour to say it,” Sheeran said. “And now it’s my turn to let my fans know exactly where I stand on this issue. What’s happening is catastrophic and unjustifiable—specifically regarding my ticket sales. Sales are dropping faster than a bunker-busting bomb on a humanitarian aid truck in Gaza City. We’ll lower prices on this tour to fill seats, but I need everyone to lower their expectations of me, too.”
Even Sheeran’s super fans are reacting negatively to the recent politically motivated dropping of Macklemore.
“At first, I was excited when I heard Macklemore left the tour. That meant an extra four hours of Ed dicking around with his loop machines, spitting bars like a coffee shop Vanilla Ice, and promoting his new Fuggler collab,” said Rain Phillips, longtime fan of Sheeran. “Then I heard Macklemore got fired for saying genocide is bad. I wasn’t sure how I felt about genocide before all of this, but now I agree: it’s bad. And getting fired for saying so is also bad. Now I’m wondering if paying $3,000 to listen to the same non-threatening background music as a dentist’s office is also bad, if not considerably more painful.”
Middle East historians offered one way for Sheeran to make amends.
“All Ed needs to do is bring everyone together for a sing-along to raise money for a charity. Imagine everyone on the planet singing the same Ed Sheeran song at the same time, at the orchestral helm of Ed Sheeran himself, ideally over Zoom,” said Brad Johnson, Chair of Middle East Studies at Stanford. “It won’t save a single child from being massacred or one hospital from being gutted and then set ablaze, but it will keep at least one groupie off the bus. Did no one notice this guy is fucking nasty? Ever?”
As of press time, Sheeran announced a career shift into country music.
