We Can’t Remember if Steve Buscemi Saved People on 9/11, Died During 9/11, or Committed 9/11 but Here’s a Photo of Steve Buscemi and 9/11

For most Americans reflecting on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, thoughts turn to the victims of the terrorist attacks and what we’ve learned as a nation since then. As major cinephiles though, we are mostly focused on Steve Buscemi. Mainly because we know that Steve Buscemi was involved with 9/11 in some way but can’t remember if he helped save people, was a tragic victim who died in New York, or was the ringleader behind the attacks, so here’s a photo and you can fill in the details for us.

We’re fairly sure Steve Buscemi returned to his role as a firefighter after the attacks, sifting through the rubble for survivors, but we got our asses handed to us at bar trivia last weekend, and it’s really rattled our confidence. This is what we’d like to believe. It’s possible we’re mistaken, though, and that we simply feel that Steve Buscemi represents the spirit of the noble New York firefighter, and we think of him as a collective avatar for all that they do. In essence, all New York Firefighters are Steve Buscemi. Unfortunately, this association still isn’t becoming clearer as we work it over in our minds.

Is it possible that Steve Buscemi actually died on 9/11 and that’s why we think about him? Is it the death of Steve Buscemi that inspired George W. Bush to go apeshit and invade Iraq and Afghanistan as retaliation for the death of Steve Buscemi? We know that we would have probably made similar decisions if that were the case. Fucking love Steve Buscemi, and to kill him would be similar to doing something extremely heinous. Something like committing 9/11.

Oh God, it’s not the case that he actually planned it, is it? We really hope not because that would make our Steve Buscemi tattoos a little harder to explain. Though no one has called us out yet, and I think someone would’ve told me how fucked up it is to be honoring a terrorist. Another name is popping into our heads: something that begins with an O. Bin something, like what British people call trash cans. Ummmmm… Osama Bin Laden! Now wait, was it Osama Bin Laden or Steve who played Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs? Because if we were on Jeopardy right now and that was the answer, well, we’re 50/50 on getting the question correct.

Wait, no, I remember now: Bush did 9/11! Also, Machinehead. We love you, Steve!
