Why Hasn’t Donald Trump Condemned My Uncle Jason’s Racist Thanksgiving Tirade?

OK — that’s it. I’ve waited over two weeks, and still nothing? This is getting fucking ridiculous. When is President-Elect Donald Trump going to try to unify this country by condemning my uncle Jason’s racist thanksgiving tirade?

Please, someone give me one good reason that Adolf Trump hasn’t condemned the offensive, vulgar, disgusting, just absolutely abhorrent rant Jason delivered over our family’s thanksgiving dinner?

Trump. Day 24.

Ever since Trump was elected there has been a sharp spike in misguided rants at family gatherings by my Uncle Jason, who used to be known as “the cool uncle” when I was a kid.

I guess I didn’t know it was going to get this bad for me. I knew Trump was a conman and liar, but I thought he’d have the backbone to condemn and disavow the human pile of garbage that is my mother’s brother. Seriously, what’s it going to take Trump?

It makes me sick that the leader of the free world thinks it’s OK to just sit back and ignore things like this. But in the back of my mind, I think I always knew the time would come when it would get just as bad for allies as it is for marginalized people. And that time came sometime around 8:30 this past Thanksgiving, when Jason started talking about San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.

What started off as a rant about how Mr. Kaepernick seems to be performing well in Chip Kelly’s offense quickly devolved into a racist tirade I could not dare possibly repeat.

It’s sad that it took this incident for me to fully understand and appreciate the plight of oppressed people in this country. The fact that I now fully relate to and identify with them and our now-shared history is a good thing, but the fact it took Trump’s inability to address my uncle’s backwards worldview for this all to happen is toxic.

And before you say I’m just complaining: I’ve tried everything. Tweets, other stuff, everything. And still, nothing?

When, Mr. President-Elect, will you stand up for people like me?
